Chicago duo My Gold Mask are releasing a new 12″ EP called A Million Miles (From Where We Were Last) on November 9th. I’m allowed to share their new single “I Don’t Need The Reason” with you guys, and there is no reason for you to pass it up.

I can’t help but get a Yeah Yeah Yeah’s vibe from the thunderous guitar and haunting female vocals.”I Don’t Need The Reason” has a dark, vibrant, feel to it. I like your style My Gold Mask.

All of us Weezer fans can now officially celebrate. Weezer have announced the first set of tour dates in their “Memories Tour” where they will spend two nights in cities playing The Blue Album in full on the 1st, and Pinkerton in full on the 2nd. They will also throw in some of their hits as well.

For us Weezer fans who were too young at the time to see them during the release of these classic albums, this is a gift. If I have my way, I will try and make it out to both shows.

Only a select few dates have been announced so far, but more will be coming soon. Point is, this is actually happening, and it rules pretty hard.

Here are the first few dates:

November 26 & 27 @ Los Angeles, CA – Gibson Amphitheatre
November 29 & 30 @ San Francisco, CA – Nob Hill Masonic Center

Listen To A M.I.A./Diplo Demo

I’m actually really enjoying this new M.I.A./Diplo demo that they posted here. Diplo says that he may leak the real version. I’m definetly interested in hearing it. I may actually like it better than some of the stuff on her latest album.

Let me know what you guys think.

I was browsing twitter before and noticed a convo between two of my favorite bloggers, Knox Road & We Listen For You. They both agreed that the new Marnie Stern song, “Transparency Is the New Mystery”, is fantastic, and I got to hand it to them, it is. This lady penned quite a mean guitar riff. The song gets more and more addicting as you keep in on repeat. You should try it out.

It’s off her self-titled album that will come out on October 5th via Kill Rock Stars.

It looks like she has also added some new North American tour dates. Check those out after the jump via Pitchfork:

[music video] M.I.A. – Story to Be Told

By Will, September 23rd 2010

M.I.A. seriously lives in her own world. Only she would create a internet themed video like “Story to Be Told” and host it on her newly purchased domain, http://yesthelittlepeoplewillneverwinbuttheycanfuckshitup.com/.

I’m not going to lie, I’m somewhat lost on pretty much everything that she has done on this album. I took a chance and bought tickets to see her at Cornell, so I’m hoping she puts on a good show.

Anyway, here’s the video. Have fun:

I was somehow missing the actual recording of Free Energy’s “C’mon Let’s Dance” all of this time. It’s a well known favorite in their lives shows, but I didn’t realize it was the b-side for their “Bang Pop” single.

If you haven’t seen them live yet, this may be completely new to you. It’s a catchy number that is a ton of fun live. There’s a little bit of The Ramones in there as well.

[new] My Chemical Romance – Na Na Na

By Will, September 23rd 2010 — with 8 comments

I’m curious to see what the response is going to be like in my comment section for this one.

Yeah, I’m posting My Chemical Romance. You may be surprised to know that I am a fan of some of their work. Their music is really aggressive and fires me up. It’s easy to hate on them, but they can play their instruments. Sure, not every song of theirs connects with me, but a lot of their jams sit fine with me. The Black Parade was really enjoyable for what it was. I probably should revisit it soon.

The band have just released their first song in about four years. It’s the amped up “Na Na Na”, which is going to be a huge hit. It’s chorus is a poppy one full of “Na Na Na’s”. The guitar riffs are there, and the band seems to have gotten rid of their “gothic” image, which is all the better with me. I always thought that they guys had talent, but wasn’t a fan of their goth/emo side.

“Na Na Na” will be off the band’s new album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

This is a fun poppy number that you will probably be hearing a lot about in the upcoming weeks. I’m not blown away by any means, but it ain’t too bad. Wonder what the rest of the album will sound like….
