The music video for “Terrible Love” perfectly captures The National. It’s no wonder these guys are one of my favorites:

As previously reported, Cold War Kids are releasing a new album on January 25th of 2011 called Mine Is Yours.
They have put up a new song from Mine Is Yours called “Royal Blue” for streaming, and it’s quite a sunny track. The bassline is fat, the vintage rock sound is still there, but there is something different about this new tune. It’s upbeat and sunny and the band sounds comfortable.
Gone is the pressure of the always feared 2nd album. The band seems like they are back to doing there thing. They aren’t worried about the haters anymore. That’s the way it should be.

My buddy Ethan from the up and coming nyc band Indian Rebound pointed out that there is a live video going around of a new song that Girls played live recently. The video recording comes from the bands October 15th show at The Fillmore in their hometown of San Francisco.
The new song is a ballad of sorts. It has a hint of alt-country weaven in it’s DNA, helping Christopher Owens get his pain through to the listener. It’s a beautiful song that we can only be so lucky to hear on Girls 2nd album.
According to a user, the song is titled “Broken Dreams Club”. Don’t know how accurate that is, but it certainly fits the song’s mood. If there is a way to hear broken dreams, it’s certainly through this song.
The user is not allowing embedding so you’ll need to click here to watch/hear the song.
My buddy Rogo worked hard to compile Summer Daze, his 2nd mixtape of new songs from some of his favorite upcoming hip hop artists. He posted it on his 21st birthday, which we celebrated in proper fashion. Help the celebration continue on with a download and a listen of his mixtape. Rogo knows his way around fresh new hip hop, so it’s highly recommended on my end.
You can grab it over at It’s A Rap, right now.

This remix of Two Door Cinema Club’s “Something Good Can Work’ is a must have for your next dance party tonight. Not having one, tonight? Too bad, you’re gonna want to after hearing this remix.
Ted & Francis take the best parts of “Something Good Can Work” and take them away to a dreamy tropical island, giving the song a completely different feeling. This is a stunning reinterpretation of a pop gem.
Hat tip to Ted & Francis on this one.

Technically, it’s Saturday morning, but who can complain with more free music from Kanye. The newest song is “Take One For The Team”, a song that features Keri Hilson, Pusha T, and Cyhi The Prynce. It features some pretty ridiculous Kanye production that creates an atmosphere of cool. If you listen carefully enough, you may hear some throwbacks to previous Kanye songs.
I don’t know how the guy consistently pumps out solid new jams each week. It’s absurd.
Download the new song below via Kanye West. Happy G.O.O.D. Friday! Saturday!

Memoryhouse’s new ballad “Caregiver” is a beautiful moment that will break down even the hardest hearts. It’s as honest of a moment as they come. It makes sense that the band recorded the song in a church in rural Ontario.
“Caregiver” is a perfect partner in crime to the changing seasons, providing an adequate soundtrack to the falling leaves of fall. We got ourselves a keeper:

After Silent Alarm, I feel in love with Bloc Party. I certainly didn’t expect them to be where they are right now, that’s for sure.
I re-found this amazing LA Blogotheque performance of “This Modern Love” and it reminded me of why I once loved this band. I was hit with emotions that I had when I used to spin the record for days at time. I remember the personally connections I made through it. It’s amazing how much of one’s life can be attached to music.
I hope Bloc Party can one day return to this greatness:
Antony and The Johnsons delivered a stunning live version of “Thank You for Your Love” last week. They changed the song’s arrangement, making the song even more emotional. What a voice.
“Thank You for Your Love” comes off his new album Swanlights, which is available to buy here.
La Blogotheque’s Les Soirée De Poche Session’s are usually extended versions of the beauty that Vincent Moon and his team are able to capture. They provide a broader view of a bands live act, putting us right there like we’re a part of the live experience.
His latest session with The Morning Benders was quite a special one. He captured the band at a light playful time, allowing for loose, but focused songs from Big Echo, and even “Dammit Anna” from their debut. There are also plenty of short cuts of different covers that Chris played around with. It was a lot of fun to watch, and I may just go for round two in a little bit:
“Virgins” wasn’t included in this version but that’s ok, just watch it below:
