A-Trak is the co-founder of the record label Fool’s Gold. He’s also a great DJ who holds his own as a solo artist. Fool’s Gold is releasing their first compilation album, Fool’s Gold Vol. 1, and he added a brand new track that will be included in the compilation.

The song, “Ray Ban Vision” has an incredible beat that is perfect for a drunk night out at the clubs. CyHi Da Prince is the featured rapper. You  may remember him as a featured artist on Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Friday track “So Appalled”.

“Ray Ban Vision” is a lot of fun to listen to, and you can grab the free mp3 download below:

Hear 4 Previously Unreleased Weezer Songs

By Will, October 14th 2010 — with 1 comment

Weezer are keeping plenty busy. Not only did they release new album Hurley a few weeks ago, but they are planning to tour the Blue Album/Pinkerton in full. They also have a Pinkerton re-issue coming on November 2nd with previously unheard recordings from the sessions. The band will also release Death to False Metal, a b-side/rarities album that will come out the same day.

107.7 The End has 2 songs from each release streaming right now. They got “Auto Pilot” & “The Odd Couple” from Death to False Metal and “Tragic Girl” & “El Scorcho” (Live From Reading) from the Pinkerton Re-Issue. Hear them here. It’s cool to finally hear some previously unreleased songs finally brought back from the dead.

So, whose going to hit up a show on The Memories tour?

[video] Band Of Horses – Georgia (Live Cee-Lo Green Cover)

By Will, October 13th 2010 — with 1 comment

A while ago Cee-Lo did a cool cover of Band Of Horses “No One’s Gonna Love You”. Band Of Horses are returning the favor by covering Cee-Lo’s “Georgia” with backup from the University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band. Both will be included on a split 7″ vinyl that is coming out in December. You can pre-order it right now from BOH’s site. I just bought mine, you should get yours too!

Band Of Horses performed the cover to close their set at Austin City Limits. Watch the live take, below:

Cold War Kids Announce New Album: Mine Is Yours

By Will, October 13th 2010 — with 1 comment

Well look at that. Cold War Kids are returning with a brand new album to kick of 2011 right. On January 24th, 2011 the band’s 3rd album, titled Mine Is Yours, will be released on Downtown Records.

The album will consist of 11 new songs, recorded in three months in Nashville Tennessee, and Los Angeles, California. Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse) recorded/produced the album.

Here’s how lead singer Nathan Willett described the songwriting on Mine Is Yours:

“I got home from tour and realized I was married. All my friends had either jumped in the deep end of a relationship or had drowned. When did things get so serious? We fought growing up but the wild nights and free-for-all caught up with us. Some people got out in time and others had permanent damage. For this record, I wrote about the joys and failures of commitment all around me.”

Sounds like this albums going have some pretty dense lyrical content. Hopefully they can combine that with the thrilling, hungrier music found on their great debut album. I hope Cold War Kids can recapture that magic.

Stepdad – My Leather, My Fur, My Nails

By Will, October 13th 2010 — with 9 comments

Don’t know where I have been on Stepdad. Shawn Oliver posted their music video for “My Leather, My Fur, My Nails” on the blogs’ facbebook page, and I was immediately hooked. Stepdad is an electronic duo hailing from Grand Rapids, MI, consisting of two lads named Ultramark and Cobrazebra.

“My Leather, My Fur, My Nails” is an irresistible pop jam. It features one of the catchiest moments of the yea with it’s colorful chorus. It’s easy on the ears, but it should wear down your dance floors. It’s an absolute delight to put this one on repeat. The hook won’t leave your head for hours. Seriously.

It’s included on their debut EP, Ordinaire, which is available to snag for free via the bands bandcamp.

[new] The Vaccines – Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra)/Blow It Up

By Will, October 12th 2010 — with 2 comments

The Vaccines are most certainly a band to watch in 2011. After the incredibly strong first demo of “If You Wanna”, the British band quickly jumped on my ranks for favorite new acts. The band quickly established themselves as cool confident rockers. They may just be this decades The Strokes.

They are currently writing their debut album, which is set for a release in the first half of 2011. On November 29th, their first official single will drop via Marshall Teller Records. It’s going to be a double A-sided single featuring “Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra)” & “Blow It Up”. I’m not surprised that I’m completely blown away by these two great songs.

“Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra)” is less than a minute and a half long. It packs tons of reverb filled guitar riffs, packed down with sun filled melodies. Try not to smile to the song as you keep it on repeat. “Blow It Up” is blessed with guitar riffs that echo throughout space and time, giving you feelings of warmth, inspiration, and joy.

The Vaccines make technically great guitar rock that will hook you immediately. Their songs also stir up many emotions, something that rock and roll is in desperate need of. The Vaccines may be our new saviors of rock and roll.

If you still don’t have “If You Wanna”, download it here, or below:

If your lucky enough to live in the UK, then check out the bands fall tour after the jump. I’m jealous.

[new] Deerhoof – The Merry Barracks

By Will, October 12th 2010

Deerhoof are back with their followup to 2008′s Offend Maggie. Their new album, Deerhoof vs. Evil is coming out next year on January 25th via Polyvinyl (while Joyful Noise will handle the limited run of cassette tapes).

You can stream album track “The Merry Barracks” below right now. It’s a song that the band self-recorded, just like the rest of the album. The band plays off each others strengths to create a quirky rocker full of tight riffs and unusual rhythms. In other words, it’s very Deerhoof.

[mp3]: Phoenix – Love Like A Sunset Part 3

By Will, October 12th 2010 — with 1 comment

I just remembered that I’m seeing Phoenix this Sunday at Cornell University. I’m so excited to once again relive the amazing live experience that they deliver. I also forgot to post “Love Like A Sunset Part 3″, which is pretty much a remix of part 2. The band gave it away for free if you retweeted a tweet about their upcoming MSG show.

Can’t believe how big these guys have gotten, but I’m damn proud.

Grab part 3 below:

Listen To Vinyl Rips of Panda Bear’s You Can Count On Me & Alsatian Darn

By Will, October 12th 2010 — with 15 comments

A vinyl rip has emerged of Panda Bear’s new You Can Count On Me 7″, just a few short hours after samples emerged on amazon.

“You Can Count On Me” is a short but inspirational song featuring harmonies that are equally inspirational and tranquil.

“Alsatian Darn” is an amazing journey through intricate melodies and vocal harmonies that are leaving my mind in a sweet, sweet, daze. I could just call his harmonies beautiful, but even that wouldn’t do them justice. Once again, the b-side emerges as my favorite.

These are decent enough rips of the songs, but I can only imagine how glorious they are going to sound in high quality.

Be sure to pre-order the 7″ from Domino. It’s officially released on October 19th.

Links taken down via Domino’s request. I want to personally apologize to all the parties I have offended by posting the stream. I shouldn’t have streamed them.

[stream] Young The Giant – Strings

By Will, October 11th 2010 — with 1 comment

Just a few days ago I made my case for Young The Giant as a band to watch. I posted two of my favorite songs. Now Spinner has premiered “Strings” another fantastic songs from their self titled debut album. The band wanted the song to reflect the soundscape of the beach, and it’s safe to say they achieved it.

Stream it below via Spinner:
