The Good Natured – Be My Animal

By Will, November 26th 2010 — with 4 comments

“Be My Animal” is the latest single from The Good Natured, the British band fronted by 19 year old Sarah McIntosh. “Be My Animal” is a well crafted pop tune that will steal your heart. I only wish that American radio could be delighted with artists like Sarah. You know, so we could be proud of our future stars.

I’m really addicted to “Be My Animal”, and I think you guys will like it as well. Grab it for free:

Happy Thanksgiving

By Will, November 25th 2010 — with 3 comments

Didn’t have the time to make a super Thanksgiving playlist, but that’s ok. I just wanted to take a moment to wish all of my readers a happy thanksgiving. Enjoy all the great food, and don’t fight too much.

Here’s one song I am certainly thankful of. Why? Well, without it, this blog wouldn’t exist.

[new] Cut Copy – Take Me Over

By Will, November 23rd 2010 — with 1 comment

Cut Copy have released the first single from new album Zonoscope. It’s called “Take Me Over”, and it’s Cut Copy at it’s finest. Dreamy vocals blessed with electronic clouds from above that can make the stiffest backs dance. Cut Copy have fused their sound with 80s inspired guitars that remind me of Talking Heads and Orange Juice. It’s a combination that works all too well.

Listen to the “Radio Edit” of “Take Me Over” below:

Zonoscopeis due on February 8th via Modular. You can even pre-order it now. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.

[video] The Vaccines – Norgaard

By Will, November 23rd 2010

Two more clips from The Vaccines show at York Stereo have surfaced. The first is, “Norgaard”, a quick sunny guitar rock tune that is simply addicting. This is my first time hearing it, and I’m simply hooked. The second song is “All In White”, a song I posted once before The audio in this recording gives us a much better look at the epic anthem. It’s a song that is growing on me more and more with every listen. If done right, the recorded version is going to be stunning.

I’ve been posting anything and everything new on these guys, because I do believe in them. I hope you do too. Watch the clips below thanks to youtube user sargentshot:

[music video] The National – Conversation 16 (Unofficial)

By Will, November 20th 2010 — with 4 comments

I was just graced with something cool, and different, from what I usually get. It’s an interpretive music video of The National’s most excellent song, “Conversation 16″. It came straight from director Daniel Arthur himself, and I gotta say, this is a little gem.

The video is a literal interpretation of the song, taken from it’s lyrics and mood. I had a great time watching it, and I hope you do too:

Sufjan made his network television debut last night when he played “Too Much” for Jimmy Fallon. You get a glimpse of the slightly awkward dancing I was talking about. Watch the performance, below:

[must have mp3] Young Galaxy – Peripheral Visionaries

By Will, November 20th 2010 — with 2 comments

When music takes you away from your normal state of mind, and puts you into a new world, then it’s doing a good job. That’s exactly what Montreal’s Young Galaxy have done with their magical song “Peripheral Visionaries”. It’s taken from their new album Shapeshifting, which will be released on February 8th via Paper Bag Records.

I found it via the always great Said The Gramophone, and am in love. I’ve been stressed out lately, and desperately needed something to calm my nerves. “Peripheral Visionaries” does just that. It’s a magical journey into the world of Young Galaxy. I don’t think I ever want to leave this world. Ever. It makes sense that people call them “dream pop”. As fitting of a title as I can think of.

Their calm, focused vocals hold your hand through waves off cool bass groves and clean, confident, guitar riffs. It will put you in a state of bliss, surely one of the best moments of 2010.

Shapeshifting was produced by Studio member, Dan Lissvik.

Arcade Fire have released a new music video for “The Suburbs”. It turns out that this was that little project that the band was working on with Spike Jozne. It will was filmed Austin with a group of 15 year olds.

If you look close enough you may catch was looks to me like Win/Régine as cops, about halfway through the clip.
