SO3 has just released the b-side to the Johnny On The Underground single. It’s called “I Just Want You To”, and it may just be one of my favorite tunes from the guys yet. It’s a catchy guitar number that flat out grooves. There’s a dance influence in the song which is something I always appreciate.
It’s also the first song of theirs with lead vocals from guitarist Mike Artamonov. Check it out below and buy it if you like it:
Telekinesis is releasing his new album 12 Desperate Straight Lines on February 15th via Merge Records. Telekinesis, a.k.a. Michael Benjamin Lerner, have released a song from the album called “Car Crash” for a free mp3 download. It’s guitar rock done right in every which way.
Big riffs, catchy hooks, and easy going vocals. He should play a show with Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. Don’t you think?
This is my first taste of Telekinesis. I’m really digging this. I’m going to have to check out their debut now.

Basement Jaxx just released a new single on itunes called “Dracula”. Even Basement Jaxx is joining in on the vampire craze.
It’s a floor pounding dance anthem. Turn that bass up and get your groove on. Stream “Dracula” below:

Here’s the music video for “Derezzed”, one of Daft Punk’s many songs from the soundtrack they made for Tron: Legacy.
The Tron: Legacy Soundtrack is out now.
Check out the Snoop Dogg featured music video for Gorillaz’s “Welcome To The World Of The Plastic Beach”. I think this is the visual that the use for their live shows, more than a “music video”. Either way, Snoop wins tons of brownie points for this. Pretty awesome:
Creep is a Brooklyn duo that’s considered by some to be “witch house”. Sure, whatever that means.
Point is, their first single “Days” is pretty great. It features vocals from Romy Madley-Croft, of the XX. It’s a perfect fit. It makes sense that she helps out since Creep is signed onto Young Turks, the same label of the xx. The creepy b-side “Intro” sounds like a creepy trip through a graveyard, with dark fog suffocating your every move. Ok, maybe now I understand this witch house genre. Sort of….

Arcade Fire’s “Month Of May” wasn’t too popular with a lot of people at first. I don’t know how you guys feel about it now, but it’s grown on me a lot. Hearing it live at MSG helped, that’s for sure. I just watch the bands performance at Jools Holland last month. They absolutely nail “Month Of May”, making it come alive in new and exciting ways.
Say what you want about the song on the album, but it’s hard to deny how great it sounds live:
Do you remember my CMJ recap of Yellow Ostrich’s show at Spin NYC? If not, this should refresh your memory. La Blogatheque was there to record the last two songs of their set. Now the glorious footage is up. If you look carefully, you may spot me. (Thanks to Mike for the tip in the shoutbox).
It’s a great performance, and I’m really glad I was able to be a part of it. Check it out below.
