Beady Eye – The Roller

By Will, January 9th 2011 — with 2 comments News Stream

It’s been quite some time since Beady Eye announced their formation. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Beady Eye, they are what is left of Oasis after the Gallagher brothers fight.

The Gallagher brothers finally had enough of each other and decided to part, ending their partnership in Oasis. Noel has gone solo, and the rest of Oasis decided to start fresh with a brand new identity.

The band has just released “The Roller”, the first single from their debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding. Previous released songs “Bring The Light” & “Four Letter Word” were not bad either, but this is easily the best song released from the band so far.

Take a listen below via Listen Before You Buy. It will be released on 7” single on the February 21st, featuring the b-side “Two of A Kind”. Different Gear, Still Speeding drops on February 28th via the bands very own, Beady Eye Records.

It seems like the brothers feud is still ongoing. Liam has accused Noel of using some parts of unreleased Oasis songs on Noel’s solo album. For more on that, read this. Either way, I’m interested to see what both parties are capable of.

Hmm, disagree about this being the best Beady Eye track to date. It’s Oasis without a decent tune. That’s what happens when Noel’s not involved. Personally I’m a fan of ‘Bring The Light’ as it seemed a statement of intent – a kind of “We are NOT Oasis” message. Sadly, they’ve since reverted to type.

I was looking forward to the album, now I’m not so sure.

I have to say Oasis minus Noel Gallagher i.e Beady Eye sound quite insipid especially on this song.
