You guys know how much I love The Vaccines. These guys are started to explode in the U.K., and it’s only a matter of time until the U.S. is singing their praise.
Thanks to Columbia Records, I have two copies of the bands Wreckin Bar/Blow It Up 7″ single to give away on vinyl. To win, leave a comment with your favorite song from The Vaccines so far and why. I’ll pick my two favorite answers (based on the coolest/most thoughtful response) within the next 5 days.
Good luck!

Just wanted to say I heard The Vaccines on the radio here in France yesterday and thought of you man. I’m actually seeing them next month alongside Crystal Castles – should be sweet as!

Lol, these guys are so big and they have just 2 released song so far! Now i would choose Norgaard as my favourite song, love the fresh summer feeling, here in Argentina is still summer so it’s a great song for any beach. Love the ironic album title too

At first, I would have said ‘If You Wanna’ (which is still kick-ass) but honestly, ‘Wrecking Bar’ is my favorite now.
Why? Because it is just fast-paced and almost sing-along rock-n-roll. And sometimes that is what I need to hear… and play really loud.

“If You Wanna” because it fueled many a crazy night last year and I am forever indebted to it’s catchy, catchy chorus.

My fave Vaccines track so far is All In White. I have to say that all I have heard is live versions. But the track is epic and I can only imagine how amazing it will be once a proper studio version is released. They by no means have re-invented the wheel. But they have done what some bands don’t do and that is make a sound their own.
It has what all good British music should have soaring guitars, driving beats, intense lyrics, a dash of attitude and commanding stage presence.

“Blow It Up”, because I think it is the song that demonstrates the band’s unique sound best. I’ll admit they have better lyrics and choruses in other songs, but I think that instrumentally this song is definitive Vaccines. I used to have a Tumblr where I posted it right when it came out, and it became my most-played audio upload ever because I was the only one on the whole website that posted it and tagged it so it showed up in searches. Awesome!

So far, I like “Post Breakup Sex” the most – especially the version performed at Maida Vale for the BBC Sound of 2011. Unfortunately, I was too late to catch the 7″ at Marshall Teller, and so it would be great to win a copy here!
I am looking forward to seeing them live in Berlin 7 March 2011!!!
Regards from Germany, Christian

Blow It Up because while i’m listening to the song, i can imagine slapping people who deserve a lesson. I like the aggressiveness of the band.
Cheers from Lima Peru. Awesome blog!

Though this may be a typical answer, I have to go with my heart and say “If You Wanna”, because from the moment I clicked to listen to it on this very blog, and heard the opening lines (“Well I don’t wanna wake up in the morning/but I’ve got to face the day”) it was like I’d penned those words myself. This feeling with heightened once I heard the “All alone/all alone/I am on my own” bits because that’s how I’ve felt every day for quite a long while now.

for me it has to be wreckin’ bar (ra ra ra), because it is quite possibly the greatest/shortest song of all time. it really makes you appreciate their brilliance with the song only being 1:28. usually you would think a good track should be longer, but the fact that its shorter than most songs makes you appreciate it that much more. as soon as i heard that song, they had me hooked. now i’m impatiently awaiting the release of the new album.

“If You Wanna” and “Wreckin’ Bar” are the catchiest songs I’ve heard since “F*** You” came out by Cee Lo. Both have been beating each other up in my head for attention since first hearing them some weeks ago.
“Post Break Up Sex” is brilliant because of the honesty and humility of it while still maintaining that Arctic Monkeys-esque self deprecating humor.

I have been digging this group since Will posted the “If You Wanna” demo back in September. I’ve listened to “Blow it Up” more times, but “If You Wanna” is the song that won me over and made me a Vaccines fan. It still feels fresh after 4 months of repeat listenings on my phone, my ipod, and in my car on various mixes.

Wreckin’ Bar ( Ra Ra Ra ), because it took me less than one minute and 24 seconds to be my Track of the Day

Having become obsessed with this band, i became starved by the slim pickings of tracks they had on Youtube/Soundcloud. So i began to delve through Youtube watching around 50 home videos of gigs for the first time. Usually the sound quality is awful so i don’t usually bother, but this became an obsession and now i’ve listened to near enough the whole début album.
Justin really commands the stage with his schizophrenic sort of outbursts of aggression, bashing into the other band members and when this is done to such songs as “Wreckin Bar” the audience all rejoice in sort of indie mosh. “Nørgaard” is by far the best song for me.
Here’s the link to a brilliant performance Nørgaard

Hmmm. As an administrator of http://www.fuckyeahthevaccines.tumblr.com that started when Faris Badwan sang with the band and Tom Furse from the Horrors played keyboards , I feel that spreading the Vaccines love from the embryonic stage to the masses deserves a little vinyl love! ( even I missed out on the first run!)

It has to be ‘If You Wanna’! It’s probably the first song I heard by the band, and it’s still as catchy as it was all those months ago. It’s how The Strokes have wished they sounded since Is This It. A lot of the people I’ve forced to listen to this song have said it’s just your typical jangly indie song but it’s not, and I think it’s interesting that you just can’t pinpoint why. It’s a great song.

I have to say Wreckin Bar really is it for me. They’ve really brought back a fun punk energy that hasn’t been seen in music for quite a while in my opinion. They’re doing the Ramones minus the Turbonegro. Its like they’ve gone to the roots of what influenced the Ramones and given it new life. After seeing this band at Bowery Ballroom, they made me feel like a kid again. It wasn’t pretentious, yet it was smart and fun all packaged together. I can honestly put this song on to start any day, and it will feel like a day has started better because of it.

I met my girlfriend at a Vaccines show, this 7″ will be an awesome gift to her for Valentine’s day. I’ve been looking for it but it seems to be sold out everywhere.
