Someone please tell me how Zoo Kid, a.k.a. Archy Marshall, is only 16 years old. I was just shocked that he was the one behind “Out Getting Ribs” a song that is heartbreakingly beautiful. He’s very mature for his age, not only in terms of age, but in spirit. “Out Getting Ribs” is a powerful song, and Zoo Kid may just be The XX success story of 2011.

Zoo Kid comes from East London, and he is one of the first teenage voices that seems – genuine. A large majority of teenage music comes from pop stars who sing bubble gum pop that’s void of genuine feeling or passion. Archy gives us the true teenage perspective. Lots happens when your a teenager, and it’s not all great. Archy delivers this message in his music, and it’s something I’m eager to hear more of.

Grab “Out Getting Ribs” on 7″ vinyl from House Anxiety Records right now. It comes with another song called “Has This Hit”. Be sure to head to his myspace and bandcamp to check out the rest of his songs.

Cheers to Richard Deans for the tip!

Check out it’s music video as well. It’s absolutely vital. It’s just him and his music. A soul as bare as they come.
