Coldplay Are Still Aiming For Their Masterpiece

In an interview with NME Coldplay’s Chris Martin said the band are still trying to make their masterpiece. He was quoted saying “”We still don’t think we’ve delivered our masterpiece, so we’re still trying to do it. As long as we feel like that and we’re hungry… that’s all that matters.”

I think that’s a very good attitude. Hopefully it results in a great album. At least they’re not saying they will make a masterpiece, as we so often hear from bands. NME also reports that two songs on the bands next album will be titled “Princess Of China” and “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall”.

I loved Viva La Vida. If they can find a way to up the anty once again, the new album is going to blow me away.

I have a hard time believing any masterpiece will contain a song titled “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall”.

I still think Parachutes and Rush of Blood to the Head are amazing albums. Viva La Vida was good, but it grew on me for sure… wasnt my favorite of all the albums they put out though.
    BUT…
Lets hope they play another free show at MSG again!

I think they already made their masterpiece in the combination of Parachutes/A Rush of Blood.

I was not a huge fan of either X & Y (minus Fix You) or Viva La Vida. I think they went away from the intimate sound that I loved towards a more arena-filling sound (like Viva La Vida) and Mylo sounds like it is in the same vein at least from “Every Teardrop” and “Paradise” which should pretty much be a Chris Brown song.
