Talib Kweli – I’m On One

By Will, January 13th 2011 — with 3 comments MP3

Talib Kweli is another rapper that I’ve been meaning to get into. The small amount of stuff I’ve heard from him is pretty great. This includes one of his newest songs, “I’m On One”. It’s taken from his new album Gutter Rainbows, which is due out on January 25th via Javotti Media/3D.

This is the type of rap that I can really get behind. It’s intelligent, smooth, and in control. I really got to get into more of his stuff. Any recommendations?

Black Star is always good if you haven’t heard it. The first album he did with Hi-Tek as Reflections Eternal is really great too, but my personal favorite is the Beautiful Mixtape if you can find it.

I second the Blackstar recommendation. They’re one of the truly great hip hop groups of all time. Mos Def + Talib Kweli =awesomeness

Reflection Eternal, Quality, and Eardrum are where you should start.
