03 Second Chance
04 Eyes
05 Breaker Breaker
06 May Seem Macabre
07 (Don’t Let Them) Cool Off
08 Black Book
09 Down Like Me
10 Lies
11 I Know You Don’t Love Me

Ducktails new album, Ducktails, Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics, comes out on January 18th via Woodsist Records. On the album is a song called “Killin’ The Vibe”. If you bought the album on vinyl or iTunes, you got a special version of the song that features the one and only Panda Bear on guest vocals.

Panda Bear’s vocals only add to the pretty spectacular chorus. It’s sunny and bright, and chances are you’ll be singing it all night.

Cloud Nothings

By Will, January 11th 2011

Cloud Nothings are a young band that is causing a lot of excitement around these parts. What started as a bedroom project for Cleveland native Dylan Baldi has blossomed into a full fledged band that is worth following.

Later this month (January 25th) the band will release their debut self titled album on Car Park Records. Below you can hear two pretty stellar songs from the album. They radiate with youthful passion and hopefulness. These are garage rock tunes that are catchy, fun, and very addicting. Check out “Should Have” & “Understand At All” below:

The band have teamed up with Toro Y Moi for a spring tour as well as a split 7″ that will be sold ahead of time on the upcoming tour. Both of the songs featured are new and exclusive. Toro Y Moi contributes “I Will Talk To You” while Cloud Nothings contributes “For No Reason.” I’m going to see their show next week at Mercury Lounge with the lovable Indian Rebound. I may pick up a few 7″. Let me know if you want one, and we can work something out.

[music video] Wolf Gang – Lions In Cages

By Will, January 11th 2011

Wolf Gang’s incredible “Lions In Cages” should have been on your best songs of 2010 list. If not, then give him a shot this year. You can start by checking out the newly released music video below:

[new] Brahms – Add It Up

By Will, January 11th 2011

It was almost exactly this time last year that I saw Brahms open for Julian Casablancas at Terminal 5. They’ve only released a set of demos (a solid set at that) since then, but an album is in the works for a release later this year. The band has just released a new song called “Add It Up”. It’s first new song since those demos came out, and it’s a fine one at that.

It’s a winter coated electronic song that grooves and dances in the night. Turn off the lights, bring out some candles, and blast some Brahms.

Beach Fossils – Calyer

By Will, January 11th 2011 — with 1 comment

Beach Fossils are becoming masters of creating jittery dream rock. They create such a hazy care free sound that I can’t get enough of. These songs deserve to be heard while cruising through the coolest summer breeze. Their new song “Calyer” is no different. If anything, the band has become even sharper, playing tighter than ever before.

“Calyer” will be on their new EP What A Pleasure, which is coming out on February 22nd via Captured Tracks. Grab a mp3 download below:

Zoo Kid – Out Getting Ribs

Someone please tell me how Zoo Kid, a.k.a. Archy Marshall, is only 16 years old. I was just shocked that he was the one behind “Out Getting Ribs” a song that is heartbreakingly beautiful. He’s very mature for his age, not only in terms of age, but in spirit. “Out Getting Ribs” is a powerful song, and Zoo Kid may just be The XX success story of 2011.

Zoo Kid comes from East London, and he is one of the first teenage voices that seems – genuine. A large majority of teenage music comes from pop stars who sing bubble gum pop that’s void of genuine feeling or passion. Archy gives us the true teenage perspective. Lots happens when your a teenager, and it’s not all great. Archy delivers this message in his music, and it’s something I’m eager to hear more of.

Grab “Out Getting Ribs” on 7″ vinyl from House Anxiety Records right now. It comes with another song called “Has This Hit”. Be sure to head to his myspace and bandcamp to check out the rest of his songs.

Cheers to Richard Deans for the tip!

Check out it’s music video as well. It’s absolutely vital. It’s just him and his music. A soul as bare as they come.

[new] Wavves – Stained Glass (Won’t You Let Me Into Yr Heart)

By Will, January 11th 2011 — with 2 comments

By now, we all know that Wavves & Best Coast are tight. Best friends & more. That’s old news. You may also know that the pair are going on a tour together. The tour will offer an exclusive tour single that’s properly titled Summer Is Forever. It offers one new song from each band, along with an older selection.

“Stained Glass (Won’t You Let Me Into Yr Heart)” was Wavves addition to the single, and it’s already leaked. Banana’s Music Club came through with the find. It’s a funky experimental song (think drugged up 80s mix of Ariel Pink & MGMT) that may just be one of the coolest things Wavves has done yet. We know Wavves likes to have fun, and it sounds like they had fun with this one.

Arctic Monkeys Begin Recording Album #4

By Will, January 11th 2011 — with 6 comments

A few days ago Arctic Monkeys began recording their much anticipated 4th album. The band is in Los Angelas as we speak, spending about 5 weeks there recording the new album. Of course, the band’s friend and long time producer James Ford is producing the new album.

That’s all we got for you now, but hey, at least we know the band are back at it. It’s only a matter of time until we hear some new Arctic Monkeys, and that my friends is always a good thing.

Thanks to Blake Puente for the tip!
