Beast Make Bomb: New EP, Music Video, + Record Release Show

By Will, January 26th 2011 — with 2 comments

Beast Make Bomb are releasing their new EP, Sourpuss, on January 29th. To celebrate, they’re playing a release show at The Studio At Webster Hall that same day (buy tix here). The band also has a new video for “Rough It Out”, a song taken from the new EP. Watch that below:

We’ve posted about them in the past, and I bet their new EP is a lot of fun. You can download their last EP for free here. The band was also a finalist in Converse’s Get Out Of The Garage Contest. Hopefully they’re picked as the lucky winner.

Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers” is one of the coolest songs of the new year. It’s a nearly perfect pop gem that’s made up with all the right ingredients. TV On The Radio/Maximun Balloon cool dude Dave Sitek felt the same way, and decided to kick out his own remix of it.

It’s all kinds of cool. The horns he adds are all too signature. It works quite well. Grab it below via RCRD LBL.

[stream] The Vaccines – We’re Happening

By Will, January 26th 2011 — with 5 comments

“We’re Happening” is the b-side that comes along with the 7″ of “Post Break-Up Sex”. It sounded so good live, it must have been tough for the band to leave it off their debut album. The band said it’s not about the band’s rise to fame though.

No worries, the band is truly happening. With strong b-sides like “We’re Happening”, it’s just more proof that these guys got the goods.

Introducing: Cat’s Eyes

By Will, January 24th 2011 — with 1 comment

Cat’s Eyes in the new project of Faris Badwan, The Horrors lead singer/frontman. He teams up with Canadian opera soprano and multi-instrumentalist Rachel Zeffira to create something very different from The Horrors. If you don’t believe me, then get this: Pitchfork reports they played their first show during afternoon mass at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican.

On February 28th their debut EP Broken Glass will be released via Polydor. Their self titled debut LP will come out on April 11th in the UK from the same label. It will be released in the US on May 3 via Cooperative Music/Downtown.

Below you can watch a live version of their song “”I Knew It Was Over” that they performed that day. I’m amazed at how lovely it is:

Here’s a free download of “Not A Friend” that the band is offering. Sounds like a mix of Beach Boys and Little Joy.

After hearing these two songs, I’m sold. This project is a really nice surprise. Sounds like these two have created something really pretty and unexpected.

New Album From Kanye West This Summer?

By Will, January 23rd 2011 — with 2 comments

Kanye West just tweeted that his new album will be out this summer. This is just a few short months since the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. He says he’s in the studio now watching the Bears/Packers game. He also tweeted that Watch The Throne will be out in two months, plus a music video for “All Of The Lights” out in one week.

Here are the official tweets:

Not a lot of turn around time since his last album, but when you’re on fire, why slow down. Keep the momentum going. That’s exactly what Kanye plans on doing. We will all wait impatiently wondering what else he will give us.
