Check out a great live performance that Papercuts did of “Do You Really Wanna Know” for Yours Truly. It’s a track from their new album, Fading Parade, coming March 1st via Sub Pop. This is as top notch of a live performance as you can expect. Where has this band been all my life?

As We Listen For You points out, you can grab two album tracks, and one exclusive via the widget posted below. All they ask is an e-mail. Fair trade, if you ask me.

Justin Taylor – Questions & Answers (The Sampler)

By Will, February 2nd 2011 — with 2 comments

Justin Taylor first caught my ear with the xx sampling “Good Night Introduction”. He’s a promising young rapper that joins Emay as one of my must watch rappers of 2011.

It’s been some time since that song dropped. It’s taken from his upcoming mixtape, Questions & Answer, which you can now hear a part of.

The first 4 songs from that mixtape are now available to stream. The fifth and final single, “Good Morning” is coming next week on February 7th. Embedded below is the sampler. Stream the tracks and let me know what you think.

Questions & Answers (The Sampler) by Justin Taylor

Win Win is the duo of producers XXXchange, and Devlin. Their self titled debut album comes out on February 15th via Vice Records. They recently premiered a song called “Interleave” on Pitchfork’s Forkcast. It features guest vocals from Hot Chips’ Alexis Taylor, whos vocals are a perfect fit for the spaced out electro-ballad. This is a very chill tune

Download it below:

The White Stripes Break Up

By Will, February 2nd 2011

Waking up to the news that The White Stripes have called it quits isn’t the best way to wake up. I can’t say it’s surprising news, though. The band didn’t seem interested in doing much together anymore. Even so, I didn’t think they would just end it like this.

The band posted the grim news on their site saying that the breakup isn’t for a fight or differences. Rather, it’s to preserve the memory of The White Stripes. They say The White Stripes are now ours, and we can do whatever we want with their memory. Read the full statement here.

Sad news, but no one can say the news is that surprising. It’s just sad we didn’t get one final album or goodbye tour. I knew I would regret not buying those MSG tickets on Ebay to see them…Damn.

Thanks for the great memories Jack & Meg:

We Are Losers – Cheerleader

By Will, February 2nd 2011

We Are Losers are a Dublin, Ireland based guitar band. They just sent me their new song “Cheerleader” and I want to share it with you. It’s a delightful piece of lo-fi garage rock that is easy to like. It just may get stuck in your head.

Stream it below:

[Contest] Win A The Naked and Famous 7″ Vinyl & Signed Poster

By Will, February 1st 2011 — with 41 comments

The Naked and Famous are quickly becoming one of my favorite new bands. Let’s face it, I am a sucker for good sounding electo-pop. Their debut album, Passive Me, Aggressive You, was #1 in New Zealand, and now they’re making their ways over here. Passive Me, Aggressive You, comes out on March 15th. Don’t worry, I got some goodies that you can win.

For one lucky winner, I have a 7″ Vinyl of Young Blood that comes with the B side of “Crazy? Yes. Dumb? No!”. That’s not all. The winner will also get an autographed “Passive Me, Aggressive You” poster.

Sounds like a good deal, right? To win, all you have to do is leave a comment below listing some of your favorite electronic/dance albums of all time. I’ll pick one winner by February 15th.

Good luck!
