  • One lucky owner of the digital version of The King Of Limbs, purchased from this website, will receive a signed 2 track 12″ vinyl.

*perhaps

Damn. Now that’s how you present a new record.

Radiohead surprise the world only a few short hours after we are buzzing over Arcade Fire’s triumphant victory. I can’t believe we are getting a new Radiohead album this Satuday, can you? Well you better believe it because this Saturday February 19th is officially The King Of Limbs day.

As P4K points out, Radiohead have once again made it so we all hear the new album at the same time. Not many bands are able to keep this collective spirit going. Then again, this is Radiohead. They know what they’re doing.

So whose Monday just got that much better? Be sure to pre-order your copy of the album here.

Arcade Fire Win Album Of The Year

By Will, February 13th 2011 — with 5 comments

If you follow me on twitter, you’re probably well aware of how happy I am right no. This just feels like a triumphant victory for indie music in general. Arcade Fire took the world by surprise and took home the prize for best album of the year for The Suburbs.

It’s funny because the same people that “don’t care” about the Grammys are probably the one’s most thrilled by Arcade Fire’s victory. They took down Eminem, Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum…all of which are all big names, making their win that much more impressive.

This post is meant nothing more than to express how happy I am for them. Congrats to Arcade Fire & Merge Records, this is well deserved!

Guards just tweeted that they have a new free EP on bandcamp. It’s a digital 7″, 3 song EP consisting of covers that the band did. The songs that they covered are: Metallica’s “Motorbreath”, Vampire Weekends “Taxi Cab” and M.I.A.’s “Born Free”. Quite an eclectic group of covers.

Stream it below, or download the whole thing via bandcamp. I posted a mp3 of the “Taxi Cab” Cover, as well

I wasn’t able to attend Indian Rebound’s show with Weekends at Monster Island this past Friday. However, videos of the band performing new songs are up on youtube. They somewhat make up my absence..

Check out three new songs from the show, posted below. They were all standouts when I saw them at Mercury Lounge last month. Can’t wait to hear what they sound like recorded.

Weezer Cover The State Farm Theme

By Will, February 13th 2011 — with 1 comment

Weezer covered the State Farm Theme song for whatever reason. I don’t think this is going to help their case with any of their fans or critics. I don’t know why or how this happened.

Hmm…

Whatever.

LCD Soundsystem Add Terminal 5 Shows

By Will, February 13th 2011 — with 1 comment

If you haven’t heard about the LCD Soundsystem scalper fiasco by now, you must be living under a huge rock. It’s really a shitty situation, and I can’t imagine how disappointing it is to the LCD camp. However, they have announced a set of 4 shows at Terminal 5 from March 28-31.

James has shown his frustrations on twitter. It’s refreshing to see that an artist truly does care about his fans. He left a huge message on the LCD Soundsystem website explaining his feelings on the situation and offering an honest reflection of what happened.

Hopefully the MSG tickets drop eventually but I have a bad feeling that’s not going to happen. At least fans will have a chance to see them play one last time now, but it’s not going to be the same for the fans or the band. MSG was supposed to be a join celebration. Now it’s been watered down with a hint of sour taste.

I’ll surely be at one of the Terminal 5 shows, and hopefully tickets will drop at MSG. If anything, this whole event should cause us to take a look at stubhub as a whole, and think about what they are doing to concert tickets.

The rich get richer and the regular people can’t even see a damn show. Somethings not right.

Introducing: Howth

By Will, February 11th 2011

Howth is the duo of Carl Creighton and Blake Luley. They released their new self titled album via the name your own price method on bandcamp. I took a listen, and it’s a very impressive album. They recorded it in a makeshift basement recording studio. The result is a raw and emotional album that is as real as they come.

Immediately upon hearing the captivating riffs of opener “Cooperstown”, I knew I was in for a treat. At first, I thought it sounded a lot like Fleet Foxes. It’s folky, but not in the traditional sense. It’s a lot darker and moodier. What followed next was “Needles and Pins”, arguably the best song on the album. It’s just good songwriting, plain & simple. Please give it a listen. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

The album dances around murky territories, while somehow sounding uplifting at the same time. “Hecksher Field #3″ sounds very Simon & Garfunkel, it’s almost scary (in a good way).

As a whole, this is an album you shouldn’t sleep on. They’re giving it away for free, but you can also buy it from them for $10. It’s hand made, and limited to 60 copies. Head to their bandcamp page for more info.

[music video] Tyler The Creator – Yonkers

By Will, February 11th 2011 — with 3 comments

Rogo has been telling me about Tyler The Creator for months now. It’s about time I listened.

Tyler’s new video for new single “Yonkers” is exloding all over the net, after only one day. The video is pretty disturbing at parts. He eats a cockroach, vomits, and then hangs himself. Woah.

One things for sure, this guy has talent. Something about him is a lot different than other rappers out there. He’s pretty raw and real. I’m digging the beat as well. Not too flashy, just straight up hip/hop.

Watch the video below:

“Yonkers” is off his new album Goblin, due this April.
