Yes!, finally. My Morning Jacket have announced that new album, Circuital, will be released this year. The album was recorded in Louisville, and is apparently the most “live record” that the band has done.

The band went back to their roots and turned the gymnasium of a local church into a makeshift studio. They set up in a circle and recorded the basic tracks live to 24-track tape.

Evil Urges wasn’t nearly as bad as people made it out to be. It wasn’t quite what I wanted from after the masterpiece that is Z, but it was still a mighty fine record. I have a feeling Circuital will be a return to form for the band, and everyone will be pleased.

Rolling Stone has a great piece on the album. Be sure to check that out. No release date yet, but hopefully the record will come out by summer. Can’t wait to hear some of these new songs live at Bonnaroo.
