[music video] Foo Fighters – Rope

By Will, March 16th 2011 — with 3 comments

Foo Fighters new single “Rope”  didn’t catch on with me right away, but it’s slowly growing on me. It’s official music video is totally rock & roll though. The concept is simple: It’s a video of the band playing the song in a room. There are some cool light effects that are simple, but do the job just fine. It was directed by Dave Grohl himself. How’s that for do it yourself?

“Rope” is on the bands upcoming album Wasting Light which drops on April 12th via RCA.

[Listen] Burial, Four Tet, & Thom Yorke – Ego & Mirror

By Will, March 16th 2011 — with 2 comments

Thom Yorke, Burial, and Four Tet came together with plans to release a 12″ with two songs: “Ego” & “Mirror”. Both songs were played on Rinse FM earlier tonight and of course, links have spread like wildfire.

All three artists have become mainstays in the experimental music world, and expectations for this release are understandably high. Both songs deliver on their promise, providing listeners with sophistacted electronica that perfectly suites Mr. Yorke’s dreamy vocals. It’s a match made in heaven.

The 12″ will be released on Monday via Bleep, Four Tet’s record label. Pre-orders sold out immediately, but there’s still a chance to buy it at Bleep’s website when it comes out on Monday.

Stream both tracks below:

Loads and people have been freaking out about Arctic Monkeys newest song, “Brick By Brick”. A lot of criticism is aimed at the simplicity of the song and it’s lyrics. Breathe easy people, the Monkeys are well aware of that. It was their intention.

NME just released a pretty great little interview with the Arctic’s previewing their upcoming new album, Suck It And See. They interviewed drummer, Matt Helders, and got some great information about the 4th album. Helders urges fans not to judge the album upon “Brick By Brick”. He said it was a fun song and even admits that there isn’t much happening lyrically. The album has a lot more songs that are fun, but there’s also plenty of serious songs. Most fans will be glad to hear that Helders called the album poppier than their last album, Humbug, was.

The review will make a lot of you feel a lot more confident about the direction of Suck It And See. From the sound of it, it will be a combination of all the best parts of Arctic’s three albums. Perfect.

The great people over at Arctic Monkeys US have uploaded a scan of the entire NME interview. There’s a lot of great information in it that’s sure to get you really excited for Suck It And See. Check it out below

[new] The National – Think You Can Wait

By Will, March 15th 2011 — with 1 comment

The National recently recorded “Think You Can Wait”, a new song they recorded for the film Win Win. The song plays during the film’s credits. TwentyFourBit was quick to point out that the song is now streaming online.

In typical fashion, The National delivered a heartbreaking beauty that may hit your flood gates. The always lovely Sharon Van Etten even sings guest vocals on the song. Matt Berninger spoke to Hitflix about the song, telling them that the song was inspired and written because of the film. It’s as pretty of a ballad as they come. Win Win is lucky to have a song like this attached to it.

You guys need to check this one out:

[music video] Alex Turner – Piledriver Waltz

By Will, March 15th 2011 — with 3 comments

There’s a music video out for Alex Turner’s “Piledriver Waltz”. It’s my favorite song from his Submarine EP, so I couldn’t be happier with the pick. The video features handheld footage of the two lovers in the Submarine film being young, and in love. It’s pretty adorable guys. It goes along perfectly with the song.

Check it out below:

Turner’s Submarine EP is available to buy now. If you’re a fan of Arctic Monkeys, this EP is a must own, trust me. Submarine opens in UK cinemas on Friday. Us Americans will probably have a to wait a lot longer.

A remix of Kanye’s “All Of The Lights” has been released, although there’s no new verse from Kanye on it. It does feature verses from Lil Wayne, Drake, and Big Sean. This is apparently the rough version of the remix. There should be another version on the way featuring a new Kanye verse, as well as one from Jay-Z.

Check out what we’re working with right now:
