By Will, May 10th 2011

Jangula has released a music video for “Pachinko”. Check that out below:

Jangula also released a music video for “We Both Like Me” that was shot at their Cake Shop show. It does a good job capturing the fun energy that Jangula bring to their live performances. Check it out:

They will be playing for free at Brooklyn Bowl on May 25th. There’s no excuse not to be there. They really bring it live, I hope to see you there.

Finally catching up on some stuff I missed due to school work. The Vaccines performed a lovely session for Daytrotter sometime during their busy SXSW schedule. Can’t wait to catch the fellas play with Arctic Monkeys later this month in Toronto and NYC.

By Will, May 10th 2011 — with 1 comment

Grizzly Bear posted a message on their facebook page yesterday, letting fans know that new music on the water. Later this month they will head to Texas to continue writing songs and eventually record them.

It’s something. It’s been almost two years since Veckatimest was released. It still holds up very well for me. How about for you guys?

Who Are The Modern Weepers?

By Will, May 10th 2011

Who are The Modern Weepers? Good question.

BrooklynVegan posted an interesting post earlier today about a mysterious new band named The Modern Weepers that is playing The Mercury Lounge on May 27th.

Here’s a message that Mercury Lounge has posted about the band:

“The Modern Weepers are a three piece band from Manchester, England. Well traveled and well known in their native England, The Modern Weepers continue to thrill audiences and critics alike with their electronic melodies and classic Mope Rock lyrics. Led by Mancunian frontman Gary Dibble and co frontman “Hugh,” they are backed up by the American Chet Skinship on keyboards. Since Gary’s recent release from Her Majesty’s Prison in Wormwood Scrubs for political protests (Miners strike) and “Hugh’s” “acquittal” on morals charges, the Modern Weepers will begin their 10 city USA tour on Friday, May 27th at New York City’s prestigious Mercury Lounge.”

Speculation on BrooklynVegan has already caused tickets to sell out already. Did you get your ticket. Who do you think it is? Is it a big band hidden under a fake name, or is it just a new act that has some incredible marketing backing them?

Your guess is as good as mine.

[new] Death Cab For Cutie – Underneath The Sycamore

By Will, May 10th 2011 — with 1 comment

Death Cab For Cutie drop their new LP Codes And Keys, at the end of this month. We’ve been getting treated to bits and pieces, but I’m sure I’m not alone with my eagerness to hear the entire piece.

We’re one step closer with yet another track to listen to from the album. The band is streaming “Underneath The Sycamore” right now. It’s a warm familiar territory for Death Cab for the most part, it just seems like their playing has become somewhat tighter. A nice listen to get your morning started.

Stream it below:

[new] Arctic Monkeys – Reckless Serenade

By Will, May 9th 2011 — with 1 comment

I’m counting down the days until Arctic Monkeys release Suck It And See. We’ve been treated to “Brick By Brick” & “Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair” so far. We also heard a few new songs live last week. Now I’ve woken up to news that another album track has leaked. It’s the smart melodic “Reckless Serenade”. Turner has proven yet again that he’s one of the best songwriters alive today.

“Reckless Serenade” keeps the summer feel that Suck It And See has been flashing at us. Feelings of passion and attempts at understanding love are the central themes of “Reckless Serenade”. It’s not the Arctic’s flashiest tune, but it has a great feel to it and I’m connect more and more with each listen.

Take a listen below:

Arctic Monkeys just rocked Sweeden’s Cirkus bringing playing two new Suck It And See songs for the very first time: “Hellcat Spangled Shalala” & “That’s Where You’re Wrong”. Check out both of them below. Get ready to be impressed:

Hellcat Spangled Shalala:

That’s Where You’re Wrong

Boy, are they sounding good. Truly sounding like a summer album as the boys self described. For more videos, head to Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys.

Check out their selistt, after the jump:
