Tomorrow night Robbers On High Street are playing on campus at 10pm in the Undergrounds via Late Night. For fellow students, you’re probably aware that Binghamton doesn’t do the best job advertising. So I’ll try and do my part. The NYC band are going to be bringing the rock right to you on campus, and its right in your backyard.

So if you’re on campus, go check out Robbers On High Street. It’s definitely one of the better options that we’ve had on campus in a while. The Oranges Band will also be playing.

Radiohead To Perform King Of Limbs Live

By Will, May 3rd 2011 — with 2 comments

Radiohead always find a way to stay in the news – for good reason. The band is planning to play King Of Limbs in its entirety for BBC for a performance that is being called “Radiohead – The King of Limbs: Live From The Basement”. It will all go down on July 1st.

If you remember, the band also did a live broadcast for In Rainbows for “Live From The Basement”. This is the first time that the band will be performing these albums live, so it’s certainly a big deal no matter how you look at it.

[new] Washed Out – Eyes Be Closed

By Will, May 3rd 2011

It’s been a while since we’ve heard new Washed Out. Thankfully he’s releasing his debut LP, Within and Without, on July 12th (via Sub Pop). The album opening “Eyes Be Closed” is our first taste of the album, and it continues Washed Out’s winning formula. Take a look at the cover art above, and then take a listen to the song. Fitting, right?

It’s a smooth sensual song that takes a step back from the humdrum of everyday life and makes us appreciate the better moments. Eyes be closed and dive right in….

Washed Out will be playing at Bowery Ballroom on 7/11. See you there?

Here’s the incredibly joyful new Lonely Island jam, “Attracted To Us”, which features good old Beck on guest vocals. It’s a playful song that shows a poppier side to the goofy trio. It’s from the band’s new album Turtleneck & Chain which drops next week.

Stream it below thanks to Some Kind Of Awesome:

While we’re at it, here’s the Snoop Dogg featured title track that dropped yesterday:

[Premiere] Howth- I Will Always Love You (Dolly Parton Cover)

By Will, May 3rd 2011 — with 3 comments

I introduced the fantastic Howth to you guys back in February, and they’re re-releasing their album through new label, Mecca Lecca. To celebrate, the band is giving away an incredible reworking of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You”, the staple song of all things romantic. I am honored that they decided to let me premiere the track, because it’s exceptionally great.

It’s a touching display of affection that is impossible to ignore. Whitney’s cover is nearly impossible to out-do, but Howth didn’t try to do that. They molded the song into their own shape, and the result is something just as breathtakingly beautiful.

This is a cover that they should truly be proud of.
