[listen] Black Milk – Brain // Royal Mega (Feat. Jack White)

By Will, July 12th 2011 — with 2 comments Stream

Imagine if Jack White put together a jazz fusion of The Dead Weather/Black Keys along with the smooth touch of Detroit MC Black Milk. Well that’s exactly what you get on “Brain” and “Royal Mega”, two new songs from Black Milk that Jack White co-produced.  Jack played guitar on “Brain” and drums on “Royal Mega”.

Both songs are funky fresh and sure to please fans across the board. It drops tomorrow on a 7″ record via Jack’s Third Man Records. Take a listen to both songs below thanks to SKOA:

  1. Black Milk – “Brain” & “Royal Mega” F. Jack White | Potholes In My Blog12 Jul 11

[...] So here’s the deal: this past April, Black Milk took a trip down to the Third Man Records headquarters in Nashville, Tenn. And when he got there, he and Third Man’s head-honcho, none other than Jack White, teamed-up to record a two-sided single. At first, the news was that White would be co-producing the tracks, “Brain” and “Royal Mega”, which in and of itself was pretty awesome. But it turns out dude also played guitar on “Brain” and drums on “Royal Mega”. The resulting tunes are, to be frank, pretty damn ill musically, particularly the thick organs and, as expected, insane percussion. Sure, Black Milk might not spit the most mind-bending verses, but you can’t deny his role as bandleader here. [via] [...]
