By Will, July 26th 2011

“Hipbone” is a smooth r&b influenced jam called by UK trio Vondelpark. It’s taken from their new EP, nyc stuff and nyc bags out now via R&S Records. It’s a smooth track that has it’s arms wide open ready for your emotional release to transpire.

[music video] The Drums – Money

By Will, July 26th 2011

The Drums have released the music video for their very catchy single, “Money”. It’s a little different than I expected, with some strange interactions with strangers. It’s an interesting watch, take a look:

DUDES – SOMETHIN’ 2 SAY

By Will, July 26th 2011

DUDES is a band/project who just released their debut EP, NARCISSISTS ANONYMOUS. The EP is a result of a years worth of recording, reworking, and remixing. It’s a combination of chill waves colliding with eccentric samples, creating funky jams perfect for a hazy afternoon soundtrack. It’s got a little bit of everything for ya.

THe whole EP is available for free download at bandcamp. It’s also being released on casette by Grizzly Records.

Wrap your mind around the ultra cool jam “SOMETHIN’ 2 SAY” below. I think Ariel Pink would smile upon this little gem:

Colossal Gospel – Bitter Man

By Will, July 26th 2011

Colossal Gospel are Chris Johnson & Stephen Weibelt from Leeds, Alabama. They spent six months writing their debut album, Circles, in small Alabama homes, closets, hallways, and bedrooms. This intimate recording process can be heard inside of “Bitter Man”, a song whose warmth overshadows it’s recording process.

The lead vocals are reminiscent of Beirut’s Zach Condon, which is an impressive feat. “Bitter Man” has great vocals, and delicate playing that all adds up to great recording.

Remember the time when music was made with pure heart and soul? If not that’s ok, Colossal Gospel will show you.

The entire album is available to stream below. If you like it purchase it for only $5 at bandcamp.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have released a new song entitled “Maniac” for free. It’s gonna appear on their new album, Hysterical, which comes out in September.

“Same Mistake” was evidence that Clap Your Hands Say Yeah still got it, and now we got “Maniac” to prove it was no fluke. It’s a solid cut that expands on the quirky sound that CYHSY has made their own. The band’s playing is tighter than ever before and it really shows.

CANT – Answer

By Will, July 25th 2011

CANT is the solo project of Grizzly Bear’s bassist, Chris Taylor. On September 13 he will release his debut album, Dreams Come True, on his own record label, Terrible Records. The album’s available to pre-order here.

“Answer” is our first official taste of the album. It’s a world of his own, with traces of Grizzly Bear, but Chris definitely stands well on his own. It’s an impressive first impression. Take a listen:
