[new] Wavves – I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl

By Will, August 29th 2011

“I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl” is a rocking new track from Wavves‘ upcoming EP, Life Sux. It will be released on September 20 via Nathan’s own label, Ghost Ramp. It’s a clean-cut summer anthem that continues to see Wavves sound a little bit cleaner, with a bit of fuzz on top. A real feel good song that is pefect for the fading days of good weather and no class.

[new] The Drums – What You Were

By Will, August 25th 2011 — with 1 comment

With new album Portamento on the way (September 6 via Frenchkiss Records) The Drums have started a new video series called Visiomento. Every Tuesday (until the end of 2011) they will upload a video to their youtube page and will share with us live in studio performances, interviews, special guests, and more.

This weeks episode was a live performance of Portamento showing, “What You Were”. If you’ve seen them live this summer they probably opened with it. This performance is as good as you can ask for.

Portamento is definitely my most anticipated album for the fall. After watching this performance, you may feel the same:

Grab a mp3 rip of this session after the jump:

Edit the start time in itunes to the 28 second mark.

[new] St. Vincent – Cruel

By Will, August 25th 2011 — with 1 comment

Last month St. Vincent shared “Surgeon” with us. Now we have another song from her upcoming album Strange Mercy. Today The Huffington Post (of all places) premiered Annie’s new music video & song, “Cruel”.

The Huffington Post leads to a guest post from Annie Clark herself, explaining a little bit about the video. Check out the video/song below. The video is actually kind of creepy. See what I mean:

We’ve known that Summer Camp are releasing their debut album later this fall, but now we actually have all the details. The album is titled Welcome To Condale, and will be released on October 31st via their own Apricot Recording Company imprint. Halloween has never looked so sweet.

“Better Of Without You”, one of my favorite tracks of the year so far is on it, along with 10 others. This is definitely one of my most anticipated releases for the rest of 2011. It’s going to be wonderful.

[new] The Vaccines – Primal Urges

By Will, August 25th 2011 — with 1 comment

“Primal Urges” is the b-side featured on The Vaccines 7″ single release for “Nørgaard”. It’s a nice relaxed track that nicely compliments the rockers from their debut. Take a listen:

It’s a limited 7″ that you can pre-order here.

[new] Atlas Sound – Terra Incognita

By Will, August 25th 2011 — with 2 comments

Bradford Cox is releasing a Atlas Sound album entitled Parallax. It will drop on November 8 via 4AD. “Terra Incognita” is a song from the album that is available for free download. It’s six and a half minutes of pure acoustic experimentation. It’s basically the smarts of Deerhunter minus all the tipped out reverb and effects. Understated beauty.

That’s the album art above. Does it remind anyone else of this?

Treefight For Sunlight – Facing The Sun

By Will, August 24th 2011

Treefight For Sunlight hail from Copenhagen, Denmark, and bring big anthem pop to our speakers. Imagine a band with dreamy vocals that sound like a mix of MGMT and Mew. Not bad company, at all.

“Facing The Sun” is a sunny example of their glorious sound. It’s a song from A Collection Of Vibrations For Your Skull, the debut album from the childhood friends. It can be yours below:

After the jump watch the band perform the song live at Abbey Road Studios:

Bon Iver and James Blake – Fall Creek Boys Choir

By Will, August 24th 2011 — with 2 comments

Last week James Blake teased us with the idea of him collaborating with Bon Iver with something called Fall Creek Boys Choir. Originally I thought that it would be the title of their pairing, but it’s actually the title of their first song together. BBC Radio 1 premiered it an hour ago, and it’s available to listen now (of course).

Blake calls Justin Vernon of Bon Iver one of his biggest influences, and they decided to collaborate after meeting at this years SXSW Festival. They created the track this spring via e-mails. Vernon does the singing, and Blake adds his production touches.

“Fall Creek Boys Choir” will be available to purchase on iTunes next week. But for now, stream it below. It’s just as amazing as you’d hope.
