Cass McCombs Announces New Album: Humor Risk

By Will, August 18th 2011 — with 1 comment

Cass McCombs already released his LP, Wit’s End, this year. That wasn’t enough for him. Today he announced that he will release another album called Humor Risk, on November 8 via Domino Records. Two albums in one year? No big deal for Cass McCombs.

“The Same Thing” is a song from the album that is available to snag for free. It’s a husky track from McCombs that will fit in to my fall mindset with ease. It’s mind boggling to think about how much great music this guy can churn out.

[new] Twin Sister – Gene Ciampi

By Will, August 18th 2011

Here’s “Gene Ciampi” the latest cut from Twin Sister’s debut album, In Heaven. It’s another solid exploration into the dream weirdo pop that the band has made very much their own. It’s available to stream below. Previous album track “Bad Street” is available to listen to here.

In Heaven drops September 27 via Domino Records.

We All Want Someone To Shout For’s Best Songs Of 2011…So Far

By Will, August 18th 2011 — with 32 comments

(Thanks to Camilo Bejarano for the perfect album art)

I love making lists. I’m the guy who just needs to compile a list of my favorite songs midway (a month late, I know..) through the year. I did one last summer and had a great time doing it, so I had to do another.

I meant to do this in July but life got in the way of that. We All Want Someone To Shout For turned three years old a few weeks ago, so think of this as a little thank you from me. Rather than just limited the list to only 50 songs, I splurged even more with 70. I just didn’t want to leave any of these songs out because I believe they all deserve some spotlight.

This is by no means final, you never know what my list will look like come December. I offer it to you as a way for you to get close with the songs that I have in 2011. I included a mp3 stream of each, and for a limited time you can download the entire thing as a ZIP file. I know it may be overwhelming to some, but give it a d/l spin some songs, and come back to it later. If you like the music, search the artist and support them by buying their music on itunes, amazon, or going to see a show.

I hope you enjoy listening to these songs as much as I have. Without further ado, I present to you We All Want Someone To Shout For’s Best Songs Of 2011…So Far:

James Blake and Bon Iver = Fall Creek Boys Choir

By Will, August 18th 2011 — with 1 comment

It looks like two of the big voices in indie rock are coming together to form a super-duo. Earlier today James Blake tweeted that he is teaming up with Bon Iver. Check out the tweet:

Nothing is officially known or announced but one can only speculate (and hope) that the Fall Creek Boys Choir is the tag team of the two. No matter how you look at it, this is a good thing.

We’ll find out what this is all about on the 24th. Stay tuned.

Just when you thought Indian Rebound couldn’t impress anymore they drop their impressive new singles, “So Strange” & “Dance With Me”. The band have never sounded as polished and mature as they do on these exciting new songs. Ethan Levenson’s lyrics and guitar work has come even further since their debut EP.

The young band has more experience under the belt and it’s reflected on both tracks. People who think guitar rock is dead need to add Indian Rebound to their musical diet.

Take a listen to both songs below via the bands bandcamp page:

Sigur Rós Announce Live Film/Album: Inni

By Will, August 17th 2011

Last week Sigur Rós teased fans with a short trailer that lead to speculation that Inni was a new live film from the band. The speculation was indeed correct. Not only is Inni a live film, it’s also a double live album.

Inni features footage from the bands 2008 show at the Alexandra Palace in London. It was their last show before they went on hiatus. Director Vincent Morisset filmed the band digitally and then “re-filmed that footage on 16mm, then refilmed it all again.” Sounds like it’s going to be a crazy watch.

Here’s the trailer below. It does it’s job and makes me really excited for the release of Inni:

Mavis Staples decided that covering The Band’s classic hit “The Weight” wasn’t enough at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival. So she got Arcade Fire’s Win Butler to join her band and make things that much better.

You all know the song, but you don’t know it like this:

[new] CANT – Believe

By Will, August 16th 2011 — with 1 comment

Pitchfork has just shared a new track from CANT called “Believe”. Remember, CANT is the solo project of Grizzly Bear’s bassist, Chris Taylor. It’s a smooth offering that has me just as excited to hear his debut album, Dreams Come True, which comes out September 13 via his own label, Terrible Records.

Take a listen below via P4K:
