Sharon Van Etten Announces New Album: Tramp

By Will, November 8th 2011 — with 2 comments Album News

Tramp is the name of Sharon Van Etten’s new album. It will be released via Jagjaguwar on February 7. It’s her first album for the label, and her follow-up to her underappreciated 2010 album, epic.

The album sees contributions from The National’s Aaron Dessner, Matt Barrick of The Walkmen, Beirut’s Zach Condon, Jenn Wasner, of Wye Oak and more. The album will be as honest as they come. A press release tells us the brutual honesty of Van Etten’s time recording the album:

Throughout the 14 months of scattered recording sessions, Van Etten was without a home — crashing with friends and storing her possessions between varied locations. The only constant in Van Etten’s life during this time was spent in the garage studio of The National’s Aaron Dessner.

Not only was Epic underrated – the song “Don’t Do It” was easily the best song of last year. She’s got one of the best voices in music and I’m very excited to hear she’s got more music on the way.

Out of curiosity – where did you get the info on her live dates? I’d love to catch a show when she swings through Columbus but hadn’t seen that listed anywhere before. (And on that note – thanks for tipping me off about the show!)
