Tyler The Creator Announces New Album: Wolf

By Will, November 16th 2011

In Spin’s lengthy profile on Odd Future, Tyler The Creator speaks about his new album Wolf, the follow-up to Goblin.

The album is looking at a potential May release. Tyler says The Stepkids influenced the work on his new album a great deal. Tyler promises to leave behind the rather grotesque content matter that have turned so many people away from Tyler’s music, on this new album. He told Spin:

Talking about rape and cutting bodies up, it just doesn’t interest me anymore. What interests me is making weird hippie music for people to get high to. With Wolf, I’ll brag a little bit more, talk about money and buying shit. But not like any other rapper, I’ll be a smart-ass about it. Now it’s just girls throwing themselves at me and shit, but I got a girl back home. People who want the first album again, I can’t do that. I was 18, broke as fuck. On my third album, I have money and I’m hanging out with my idols. I can’t rap about the same shit.

Probably a smart decision. I’m a fan of Tyler but it’s kind of hard to listen to him around my siblings and more…innocent friends. He’s only 20 years old, give him time. He’s on a path for even bigger and better things, which is saying a lot.

Emay – Igneous ROCKstar // No Sign

By Will, November 16th 2011

It’s been a little while since we’ve last heard from Ontario rapper/producer Emay. He’s been busy working on his debut full-length album, Adam, which should be arriving sometime between December and January.

In the meantime he’s shared with us, “Igneous ROCKstar” & “No Sign”, two new tracks that aren’t on the album. But that’s not to say that these cuts aren’t worthy of your time. I assure you that they most certainly are. Smooth production and smart, level-headed lyrics grace both tracks, no surprise for those of you who have been following this young man.

Not many artist in general, of any genre, are making as refreshing sounds as my man Mubarik Adams. There’s no denying this after you listen to both tracks.

You have the option to stream/download both of the tracks below. Emay has given you his blessing. So, what are you waiting for?

The Orwells – Halloween All Year

By Will, November 16th 2011

The Orwells are a band hailing from the suburbs of Chicago. They recently released their third album, Remember When.

A track that really stood out to me is “Halloween All Year” an awe inspired epic jam that calls to mind a mix of Edward Sharpe and The Horrors. It’s got a big heart and kinds of ambition. It’s a song that would sound right late at night after you’ve had a few, when you’re desperate and hungry enough to go get what you’ve been searching for.

If Halloween sounded like this, it would be fine to make it a year long holiday.

Stream the whole album here.

[new]: Rihanna – Drunk On Love (Feat. The XX)

By Will, November 15th 2011 — with 1 comment

The XX are truly all over the place. Whether it be Jamie XX making it big, or artists sampling their work, they’ve been having a big 2011, even without releasing any new music. First it was Drake who sampled a Jamiee XX/Gil Scott-Heron clip that featured Rihanna. Now she has sampled The XX’s “Intro”, for her new song, “Drunk On Love”.

If you know the song, you know how good it is. Rihanna does her thing, and I think fans of both sides will find something that they enjoy from “Drunk On Love”.

The song is off her upcoming album, Talk That Talk, which drops next week. Take a listen to the song below.

The Big Pink are releasing their new album, Future This, January 17 via 4AD. We previously heard album track “Stay Gold” and now Listen Before You Buy has revealed a radio rip of a new song called, “Hit The Ground (Superman)”.

The song samples Laurie Anderson’s “O Superman”, adding it to their big spacey sound that they’ve clearly made into their own. Take a listen to it below.
