Craig Finn, leader of The Hold Steady, is releasing his debut solo album Clear Heart Full Eyes, on January 24 via Vagrant Records.

The album’s title is a reference to the TV show Friday Night Lights. The album was recorded this past July with producer Mike McCarthy in Austin, Texas, where Finn went to remove himself from familiar surroundings.

“Honolulu Blues” is the first single from the album, and it will come out later this month. Read Finn’s more thorough description of the album here, and check out the album’s tracklisting below:

Radiohead Announce New U.S. Tour Dates

By Will, November 7th 2011

Radiohead teased us this September with two NYC shows, and now they have announced 10 tour dates for early 2012. The tour will start at the end of Feburary, and will continue to mid-March. Other Lives are set to open.

This tour will probably be the first of a more expansive one. If you missed out on the Roseland Ballroom show New Yorkers, don’t worry. I got a feeling they will be back soon, at a much bigger venue.

Check out the tour dates below:

Drake – Take Care (Feat. Rihanna) (Samples Jamie XX)

By Will, November 7th 2011 — with 3 comments

Drake is very hit and miss for me (more of the latter), but when I heard that he was working with Jamie XX, even I was impressed. Drake’s new album Take Care has leaked, and I just heard the title cut which features Rihanna, as well as a sample of Jamie xx’s remixed Gil Scott-Heron track “I’ll Take Care of You”.

I gotta say, this is a pretty solid track. One that I just may go back to from time to time:

Passion Pit @ Cornell University (11/5/2011)

By Will, November 6th 2011 — with 3 comments

Not much has changed since the last time I saw Passion Pit. Michael Angelakos vocals are still incredibly high, the setlist hasn’t changed (aside from the two new songs they’ve been showcasing), and they are incredible fun live. Cornell’s Barton Hall is a beautiful building, and always a good place to see a show. The band had all the students feeling good, and there was no reason to disagree. Passion Pit are just one of those bands that put a smile on your face.

Director Andrew Clancy put together a wonderful video called A Year In New York featuring various footage of life in the big apple. He edited all the great footage and created a wonderful clip that seems to be made just for James Vincent McMorrow’s inspirational song, “We Don’t Eat”.

Here’s a description of the clip from Clancy:

Living in New York I’d grab my Canon 7D, or S95, and shoot footage of what was going on around me. It seemed like a never ending project and you could stay filming life in New York for a long time

Eventually I put the camera down and started to edit. Here’s the end result, it’s a bit rough and ready but that’s life in the Big Apple I guess.

Turn up the volume on this one for the beautiful song ‘We Don’t Eat’ by Irishman James Vincent McMorrow.

It’s a breathtaking look at New York from a more honest perspective. The combination of the realness of NYC and James’ song is wonderful. Hit the jump to watch it:

Harrison Hudson – Every Girl

By Will, November 4th 2011

There’s a timeless quality to Harrison Hudson’s “Every Girl” that doesn’t get lost on me. It sounds like something from a older, better time, yet it also shines very bright in modern light. It’s catchy, romantic, and easy to replay.

“Every Girl” is from their upcoming album American Thunder, out now via Favorite Gentlemen Recordings.

The entire album is available to stream in full over at their website.
