[new]: Islands – This Is Not A Song

By Will, December 5th 2011 — with 2 comments

You can always count on Nick Thorburn for new music, the man is always releasing something of quality. Good news for you fans of Islands, because there’s a new album coming. The album is titled Asleep & A Forgetting, and will be released via Anti- on February 14.

The band has shared “This Is Not A Song” from the album. It’s very much a song. A very good one at that. It’s a sparse number that just may welcome some slow dancing. I mean that in all the best ways. It’s a lighter, slower side to Islands, and I think it’s fantastic.

As Pitchfork reports, Animal Collective have starting working on their new album. In an interview with Madison.com, the bands very own Avey Tare told them that the band is in Baltimore working on the follow up to Merriweather Post Pavilion.

Here’s what Avey had to say:

We just finished another two weeks of writing sessions and put together five new songs. We’re really excited about this record and it’s been really fun jamming with those guys again.”

The band plans to begin full recording sessions in January.

Of Montreal have announced that their next album will be titled Paralytic Stalks. It will be released via Polyvinyl on February 7th. That’s the colorful album art posted above. The band already shared a track from the album, the epic 7 minute adventure “Wintered Debts”, which you can download here.
