Last night’s Northside Festival showing at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg was my 3rd time seeing Caveman and out of all three, it wasn’t their best show. The band still put on a good showing but something about the crowd or the energy there didn’t do it for me. The other two times I saw them had a different feeling, almost a sense of urgency, that I felt missing yesterday. With that said, the band sounded good and the new songs worked, it’s just that there was a bite missing from last time. The band is currently at work on their new album, which they are recording in Brooklyn.

Frankie Rose and Fort Lean opened, and put on a solid opening show. Frankie Rose delighted with a shoe-gaze influenced set with plenty of light tricks that played as a late-night dream. Rose had a lot of energy and a great live presence that worked.

Fort Lean impressed me a lot, giving a steady rock & roll performance that left me wanting more. Ethan from Indian Rebound was the first to refer them to me, and he is right, these guys are definitely ones to watch. They got an old fashioned wholehearted rock sound that is hard to shake. Head to their bandcamp page to hear some tunes.
