“Hollow Mountain” is the first piece of music from Efterklang’s new album Piramida (out on September 25 via 4AD).

Last summer the band traveled to Piramida, which is a abandoned mining settlement located in Spitsbergen, only a short 1,000 km from the North Pole. They explored the era, collected sounds and inspiration along the way. They recorded the record in Berlin, taking many pieces from Piramida with them.

One listen and you can hear the otherworldly atmosphere of this world. “Hollow Mountain”. Beautifully constructed and orchestrated, this is a pretty piece of work that really does explore the sounds and life of a totally different place
