As bad as Muse’s new dubstep-influenced “Unsustainable” was, I’ll give them credit for not making it the official first single of their new album, The 2nd Law. It turns out that “Madness” is the official first single, and it’s loads better.
There’s a lot less noise going on, for sure. It’s paced out allowing Matt to display some vocals over a slow timed out beat. It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s a hell of a lot better than I expected after hearing “Unsustainable”. It still has bombastic elements towards the end, but in a much different way.
The 2nd Law is due out October 1 via their own label, Helium 3.
