GEMS are dream pop band from Washington, DC. They “spent the month of October 2012 recording in an empty beach house in the Outer Banks, NC.” “Void Moon” is one of the songs that they finished before they were evacuated because of Hurricane Sandy.
It’s their first single, and it’s a majestic wonder. It’s dream pop in every sense of the word, certainly similar to Beach House, but not limited to that comparison. Their email described themselves with the following:
Sometimes I think we get so lost in our own little world that I can’t bring myself to share what we’ve created with anyone. Clifford and I keep making music together because it’s something we both feel we have to do for ourselves, but I’m trying to get over my fear of sharing this world with others.
Well I’m glad that Lindsay & Clifford (the duo that make up GEMS) have decided to share their music with us, because it’s pretty great. It has overtaken my mind and put me into their own little world, which is pretty grand right now.
