Two weeks ago Foals announced that their next album, Holy Fire, would be released in February. Today the band released the video for a new song called “Inhaler” that serves as the albums tremendous first song.

The band have evolved since their debut album, showing new found depth. They manage to naturally sound both fresh and influential – and heavier. Much heavier. The funky nature of their sound remains their selling point, just in a louder, broader way. A thick, syrupy bassline counteracts singer Yannis Philippakis’ high pitched vocals. This is not the same Foals I discovered when I graduated from high school.

They create multiple layers of atmosphere and sensations, effectively toying with many different emotions during its 5-minute run time.

Watch/listen to “Inhaler” below.

Holy Fire comes out February 12 via Warner Bros.
