MGMT

MGMT have announced the details of their new self-titled album, MGMT. It will come out September 17 via Columbia Records.

They worked with producer Dave Fridmann on the record once again returning to Fridmann’s very own Tarbox Road Studios. The band experimented with new writing processes that enabled them to follow the direction that the music wanted to go. It features 10 songs, including a cover of Faine Jade’s “Introspection.”

It will feature “Alien Days”, the single that MGMT released on Record Store Day. The next single release will be “Your Life Is A Lie” which will be delivered in the form of a music video (and you can hear the live version “here”.

More interestingly, the album will come with something called “The Optimizer”, which will provide a variety of unique visual elements that will serve to accompany and illuminate the music. It was produced by their live video instrumentalist, Alejandro Crawford. It will provide listeners with a simultaneously aural and optical listening experience. According to the press release, this will be available on all formats of the album. Interesting stuff.
