Joanna Gruesome are one of the busiest acts at CMJ this year, and I made it a point to make sure to catch them. Andrew St. Clair had the same idea as me, and got some amazing photos of both of their performances at Pianos on Wednesday night, one set upstairs (in color) and one set downstairs (black and white).
The band hails from Cardiff and play some edgy punk-rock with a sense of urgency. They’re live show is already fine tuned, making me truly believe that they’re sitting just on the break of breaking out. It was a fierce live show that I will want to try and catch again while we have them in the city. I recommend you do the same.
