Every month Rookie Mag commissions a different artist to create a new theme song for them. This month Spoon frontman/Divine Fits member Britt Daniel was chosen, and he recorded a cover of Shelley Fabares’ 1960s pop song “Love Letter.”
Daniel takes the song and puts his own stamp on it, sounding like it could have very well been a product of Spoon, if you didn’t know any better. It has a lo-fi, friendly, old-fashioned, quality to it that works magically.
