It was rumored for months, but yesterday the official announcement that Outkast was playing Coachella finally came. As a New Yorker my only concern was would they also be headlining Governors Ball this summer? I assumed so, but now according to Rolling Stone, it’s official. Outkast will indeed be headlining Governors Ball.
Believe it or not, it actually will be the second time that I’ve seen them. As a kid I saw them at one of the Z100 Jingle Ball concerts. Not my proudest moment, but seeing Outkast as a little kid actually makes it quite alright.
The rest of the lineup is expected to be announced next week, which is also when tickets will go on sale. Governors Ball has already started teasing the lineup on their social media accounts (facebook, twitter, instagram). The festival is set to go down from June 6 to June 8 at Randall’s Island Park.
