The Horrors - Luminous

Earlier today The Horrors announced their new album is titled Luminous and is coming out via XL Recordings on May 5. That wasn’t the only good news, as they also shared the album’s incredible first single “I See You” on radio, and immediately followed that with a lyric video for the rest of the world to enjoy.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls: The Horrors are back in a very big way.

“I See You” (which they played live with Thurston Moore) is a tremendous triumph from the band. Another breathtaking step forward for a band that have already made tremendous stride after tremendous stride since the release of their debut album nearly seven years ago. At seven-and-half-minutes long, it’s a mesmerizing listen that takes you on a incredible journey through groovy basslines, shoegazy effects, colorful synths, and those hard to ignore vocals of frontman Faris Badwan.

As I said before, The Horrors are one of the few buzz-grabbing British bands to push well past their NME days, to take a permanent seat alongside bands like Arctic Monkeys and Foals. If “I see You” is any indication, I’m pretty sure that Luminous is well on its way to becoming one of the best albums of 2014.

Enjoy “I See You” below, along with the Luminous tracklist.
