It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from Friendly Fires. It’s been three years since the release of their last album, Pala.
Well, they’re finally back, only in a different sort of way. Last year the band teamed up with The Asphodells to collaborate on new music. The goal was to come together to record something that was a bit different from what both parties would usually create. The first taste of the album is a nearly 8-minute cut named “Before Your Eyes” that’s fantastic and mesmerizing.
“Before Your Eyes” takes its time to reveal itself over its run-time, unfolding like a pleasant dream that only gets better and better. It’s a different look for Friendly Fires, but a good one. I’m liking this quite a bit.
