Walter Martin of The Walkmen is releasing his debut solo album We’re All Young Together on May 13 via Family Jukebox. He stopped by Housing Works last night for a special intimate performance.

He joined Wesley Stace (John Wesley Harding) and author Sam Lipystre for a performance/discussion that featured Martin performing a few tracks off the album, as well as talking a little bit about the album, the songs he performed, and other things music in general.

Martin only got to play a couple songs, but I got to hear the lovely “Sing To Me” performed, which made the night all worth it. It was cool to hear him talk about the record a bit, and to get to see him away from the spotlight of The Walkmen.

He’s got a full band release show at Joe’s Pub on May 16. Tickets for that are on sale now. I posted some more photos from his performanc below, as well as the “Sing To Me” stream, which of course, features Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
