Julian Casablancas + The Voidz - Tyranny

Julian Casablancas and The Voidz have been playing shows as early as March this year (as well as Governors Ball) but they did so without any official word of an official release. That changed last week, as Casablancas announced that the album is called Tyranny, and it will be released on September 23 via his own Cult Records.

If you pre-order the digital version of the album now, you can pick it up at the discounted price of $3.87.

Tyranny was written and recorded over the past year and was produced by Shawn Everett. The Voidz band features Casablancas and fellow Voidz band members: Jeramy Gritter, Amir Yaghmai, Jeff Kite, Jake Bercovici, and Alex Carapetis. The album incorporates world underground music from the 70s and 80s, along with hardcore/punk and “modern harmony”, using modern and analog recording and sampling techniques. In reference to the album’s title, Casablancas says:

Tyranny has come in many forms throughout history. Now, the good of business is put above anything else, as corporations have become the new ruling body. Most decisions seem to be made like ones of a medieval king: whatever makes profit while ignoring and repressing the truth about whatever suffering it may cause (like pop music, for that matter).

With the announcement comes the latest album teaser, with some more songs clips along with footage from the bands South American tour. With that said, you can find the bands fall tour dates posted below (along with the trailer).
