Wampire

On Friday October 17 Tops and Wampire played Baby’s All Right to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the venue, which has turned into a favorite for pretty much any concert lover in New York City. It just may be the best venue in New York at the moment..

Tops got things going with a set perfectly suited for a late night. They mostly delighted with tracks off their newly released album Picture You Staring, while also dabbing with some select favorites off of Tender Opposites. The band, led by vocalist Jane Penny, mix dreamy midnight ballads with groove-inducing 80s jams that had the entire crowd dancing along. They’re always a blast to see live, and tonights show was no different. I went on to catch them a few more times at CMJ the next week, simply because they’re that good.

Wampire were up next and they too have a new album out, called Bazaar. They dazzled with a late night set of songs that dug deep in heavy grooves that suited the hazy atmosphere that the foggy stage of Baby’s presented. They mixed in a few songs off their debut album Curiosity which blended in seamlessly with the new material. As the night got later, the sounds of Wampire only seemed more fitting, sending us home still lost in their atmosphere.
