The Ocean Blue formed in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 1986. Since then they’ve released five albums, including last year’s Ultramarine, which was released via Korda Records.
Truthfully, this was my introduction the group, who had a very 80s sound to them, reminiscent of the likes of Echo & The Bunnymen, The Smiths, and Cocteau Twins. They had Pianos buzzing, more of a re-discovery than the new fresh-faced bands that CMJ is usually comprised of. But ironically these guys were one of the first true new discoveries of my week, and they’ve been around since before I was born. Oh, the irony.
It was a real pleasant discovery, and I look forward to diving into The Ocean Blue’s discography very soon.
