Governors Ball 2015

As a New Yorker the Governors Ball Music Festival is a highlight of any summer, and it’s lineup is one that I always anticipate in the early days of the year. The festival has grown in considerable size each year, with this year arguably being it’s biggest one to date.

Today they announced the 2015 lineup, and it’s quite interesting.

Drake, The Black Keys, DeadMau5, and Florence + The Machine are the top billed headliners. Then there’s Lana Del Rey, My Morning Jacket, and Bjork (who is somehow not on the top bill). Then the rest of the bill features a strong selection that includes Ryan Adams, Chromeo, Noel Gallgher’s High Flying Birds, Sharon Van Etten, Flume, The Decemberists, Tame Impala, Ratatat, St. Vinent, The War On Drugs, Future Islands, Hot Chip, Death From Above 1979, SBTRKT, and Flying Lotus. Not to mention Weird al Yankovic (wow!), Conor Oberst, Atmosphere, A-Trak, Little Dragon, Charli XCX, Marina and the Diamonds, Sharon Van Etten, Twin Shadow, Mayer Hawthorne, Vance Joy, MØ, DIIV, Benjamin Booker, White Lung, Strand Of Oaks, The Districs.

It’s a very diverse lineup that features a lot of different stuff, so I guess the Governors Ball team did their job. I’m more excited about a lot of the second and third tier booking that some of the headliners, which is the sign of a balanced festival.

The festival will once again go down at Randall’s Islands Park on the weekend on June 5-7. Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon.
