Last Wednesday night Nashville, Tennessee four-piece Bully played a sold out a show at Baby’s All Right. The young band already knows how to draw an audience, as this was a truly sold out show that was packed out all the way to the entrance door at the back of the venue. The group has been riding high off the buzz of their terrific single “I Remember,” which is also the opening track on their debut album Feels Like, out June 23 on Columbia Records imprint, Startime International.

The single is only 1:47 long, but every second of it counts. It’s the powerful vocal release from Bully singer and leader Alicia Bognanno that pulls you in. Live, she is able to channel this incredible energy, as the rest of the band (guitarist Clayton Parker, drummer Stewart Copeland, and bassist Reece Lazarus) smoothly power through their 90’s-esque garage-rock riffs. Bognanno’s vocals can go from a soft gentle touch but then transform to a wildly powerful scream when needed. It’s this versatility that will allow Bully’s music to be approachable for a variety of audiences.

Look out for Bully to continue a hot rise after their album is released. They’ll return to New York on June 13 for the Northside Festival, playing on a stacked bill consisting of Built To Spill, Best Coast, and Alvvays. Tickets are still on sale for that one. See you there.
