Tomorrow rising Chicago indie rockers Whitney (featuring Max Kakacek formerly of Smith Westerns and Julien Ehrlich formerly of Unknown Mortal Orchestra) release their debut album Light Upon The Lake via Secretly Canadian. It’s already one of my favorite albums of the year so far, and it won’t be long until everyone else is captured by their lush summer sounds.

To celebrate the albums release, the group is in town for a trio of shows, both big and small. They’ll play an early afternoon set at Governors Ball on Sunday, but before that they’ll do some intimate performances in Brooklyn, playing Baby’s All Right tomorrow night, and Market Hotel on Saturday.

Unfortunately both shows are sold out, but there may be a select amount of tickets available at doors day of show. It’s a matter of time until they play bigger shows at venues like Bowery, MHOW and maybe even Webster Hall, so these are definitely the shows to see.
