With his last New York show coming last summer at Governors Ball, Noel Gallagher returned for a sold out “evening with” him and his High Flying Birds at the Beacon Theatre.
The set featured a good mix of his new solo High Flying Birds material, as well as a fair share of Oasis classics (“Wonderwall,” “The Masterplan,” “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” “Champagne Supernova,” along with some deeper cuts (“D’Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?” + “Half The World Away”). As you’d expect, there was plenty of memorable banter and interaction with fans from Noel, including some bits about fireworks, mistaking the ages of his kids at home, which wouldn’t please his wife, “Wonderwall” still paying the bills, and one fan wanting a drumstick, which resulted in Noel recommending a Chinese joint down the road. Oh, and of course, Liam.
It was fantastic.
