On October 11 Chicago’s Whitney played the second of a sold out three-night New York at Bowery Ballroom in support of their terrific debut album Light Upon the Lake, which was released earlier in the year via Secretly Canadian. The show came in between shows at the about equally large Music Hall of Williamsburg and the much smaller Baby’s All Right.

After missing them after Day 3 of Governors Ball was cancelled, I finally got my chance to see the group live. The album has been one of my most listened to of the year, and based upon the passionate response from the sold out crowd, I wasn’t alone with this.

The show also featured some great openings sets from a strong three-act bill that also featured Hoops and Sam Evian
