The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach is releasing his new solo album Waiting on a Song on June 2 via Auerbach’s new label, Easy Eye Sound (Easy Eye is also the name of his Nashville recording studio).

On May 12, Auerbach came to New York for a sold out performance at Music Hall of Williamsburg. The intimate show, which was also streamed live on SiriusXM, served as the first preview of the new album. Not only did he play the entire record for those lucky enough to grab a ticket, but he even played some stuff newer than the record.

Best of all was that Auerbach did it with all the legendary Nashville musicians that he made the record with, literally bringing Waiting on a Song and it’s Nashville roots to New York. He also returned to his first solo record, 2009’s Keep It Hid, and gave us old favorites such as “Trouble Weights A Ton,” and an acoustic version of it’s stunning closer “Goin’ Home.”

It was a treat to see Auerbach share these songs in such an intimate setting, as I’m sure the next time around will be in a much bigger place, probably with seats.
