It doesn’t take long to be completely entranced by the vocals of Alex Stewart on her stunning track “Stranger.” If you were thrown this track out of the blue – like myself – you’d be forgiven for thinking ACES was anything but a well known, brand name, established artist.
Hailing from Canada, Stewart now calls Brooklyn home and makes some stunning as hell ethereal indie-pop under the ACES moniker, releasing a sound that is cinematic and beautifully haunting.
Listening to “Stranger,” or anything else off of her impressive debut EP of the same name, it’s hard not to imagine the song soundtracked with a dramatic movie trailer or big time TV moment. It just has that quality to it. Which actually makes sense when you learn that Stewart works as a film editor, so the cinematic world already runs through her (and her husband whose a filmmaker as well).
I sense that big things are on the way for ACES and hope you keep her on your radar. I know I am.
