Animal Collective may have released their latest album Painting With last year, but they have stayed plenty busy in 2017. This year they released a new EP called The Painters we well as, Meeting Of The Waters another new EP that was recorded live on location in the Amazon Rainforest, and released as an exclusive on Record Store Day (both were released via Domino Records).
Between all that, they have stayed busy on tour, coming back to New York again for a sold out show at Brooklyn Steel on May 23. The set featured newer songs from both Painting With and The Painters as well as trippy new versions of older songs such as “Bees,” “Taste,” and “Kids On Holiday. This trio-version of Animal Collective featuring Avey Tare, Panda Bear and Geologist seem to be in a good space right now, and it was a pleasure to watch them do their thing yet again that night at Brooklyn Steel.
