Rosalia is a sextet from New Orleans who met as students during their first semester at Loyola University. The soul and spirit of New Orleans is felt in the jazzy sound found in their brand of psych-pop which helps it stand out.

Take the track “Ginger Chew” which has some deliciously dreamy vocals to go along with its synth workings and big brass moments. Then there’s the more electronic orchestral arrangements of “Don Quixote” which patiently lets its melody unfold like a fine wine, gorgeously spilling to the floor. There’ just something about their approach that seems genuine and refreshing and nice change of pace from all the robotic noise out there.

Both “Ginger Chew” and “Don Quixote” are taken from the band’s debut album Sweetmeats which can be streamed in full or bought at their bandcamp page and you can name your price. You can also stream the aforementioned tracks after the jump below.
